If there’s mold growing indoors, there’s a reason—and a risk.

Mold is a natural organism that plays a vital role in outdoor ecosystems. But indoors, it’s never natural. Mold thrives inside homes and buildings when excess moisture or water intrusion goes unchecked—and it can silently damage your property and health before you even know it’s there.

Understanding Mold

What Is Mold and How Does It Grow?

  • What is Mold?

Mold is a type of fungus that thrives in damp, warm, and humid environments. It can appear in various colors and textures, often resembling spots or patches on surfaces. Mold plays a crucial role in nature by breaking down organic matter, but when it grows indoors, it can pose health risks and damage property.
  • How Does Mold Grow?

Mold reproduces through tiny spores that float in the air. When these spores land on a moist surface, they can begin to grow within 24 to 48 hours. Common areas for mold growth include bathrooms, kitchens, and basements, especially if there are leaks or high humidity levels.
  • Why Is Mold a Concern?

Mold can lead to various health issues, including allergies, respiratory problems, and other serious conditions. It can also damage the structure of your home, leading to costly repairs. Understanding mold and its growth patterns is essential for maintaining a safe and healthy environment.
  • How Can You Prevent Mold?

Preventing mold involves controlling moisture levels in your home. This can be achieved by fixing leaks, using dehumidifiers, and ensuring proper ventilation. Regular testing and prompt action can help keep mold at bay.

Expert Mold Inspections

At AMI, our mold inspections are non-invasive, professional evaluations using cutting-edge technology. We never damage your walls or floors to “find the problem”—instead, we rely on:

  • Infrared Thermal Imaging – Detects hidden moisture behind walls and ceilings

  • Moisture Meters & Hygrometers – Identify damp conditions that promote mold growth

  • Trained Visual Assessments – Performed by certified indoor air quality professionals

Unlike many inspectors who charge extra for infrared scanning, we include it in every mold inspection—at no additional cost. If your inspection doesn’t use this technology, it’s incomplete.

Identify Hidden Risks

Mold testing determines exactly what types of mold are present and in what concentrations. It complements the testing process by identifying hidden risks you can’t see. The most common method:

Air Sampling

This reveals:

  • Types of airborne mold spores
  • Concentration levels (spores per cubic meter of air)
  • Whether mold is likely hidden behind walls or in unseen spaces

All AMI mold samples are sent to local, accredited laboratories for analysis. We don’t guess—we give you scientifically backed results you can rely on.
